But it says "Total physical memory :1931MB (6144MB)" which i don't know what it really means. In windows properties i see about 2GB of ram, and also BIOS only detects 2GB! I went into BIOS and saw that it sees all the memory in all 6 slots. But, only slots 1-3 are enabled. What's weirder is that slot 2 has a 4GB stick, but only 2GB is enabled. Sep 20, 2017 · Hi all, I have 2 x 4GB sticks of RAM connected currently in DIMM slots 1 and 3 (1 being closest to the CPU). BIOS can see the 8GB, as can windows but in resource manager it's telling me that 4gb is hardware reserved, so only 4GB is 'usable'.

Also make sure to install the original working RAM in the other slot to isolate the issue further to check that both RAM slots work correctly. When this is done, don’t install the new RAM in any slot and keep it aside. If the original ram works in both slots, the new ram needs to be replaced.
